Although the name Lagaanis is synonymous to the cast and crew of Aamir Khan’s Lagaan, which includes the British actors playing a pivotal role in the film. And the climax of the film is designed for Bhuvan’s team to snatch a glorious victory against Captain Russell’s formidable cricket team but behind the scene the scenario was not quite like the movie.

Documentation on the making of Lagaan called “Chale Chalo” revealed the fact that while the shooting for the film and the cricket match in particular in the isolated parts of Gujarat. Just to ease the ever growing pressure and give the Brits a chance to win off screen, the entire cast and crew went back to the same location where the cricket match was been shot and obviously on an off day.

It was a proper match between India vs England with 20 overs per innings. India 11 was captained by non other than Aamir himself with some changes in his actual team from Lagaan, while the England 11 was spearheaded by Paul Blackthrone (Captain Russell). The result of the match would not really excite the fans of Lagaan, since India 11 lost to England 11 and the Brit actors were jubilant about it.
