Quite some time back news about the sequel of 1987 hit, ‘Mr India’ had been making its rounds in the industry.

While it was said that Anil Kapoor and Sridevi might reprise their earlier roles, the sequel will have Salman Khan playing the iconic villain Mogambo.

However it was then said that Shekhar Kapoor who directed the original version will be replaced by Anees Bazmee for the sequel.

Producer Boney Kapoor in fact was keen to have Shekhar Kapoor for the second innings as well but owing to the latter’s other commitments it was not possible.

But now heard that Shekhar Kapoor is back on the film’s board. Quoted a source, "Earlier Shekhar was busy with other projects and had offered to be the creative consultant.

But things have changed now; he will be directing the sequel."

It is said that the producer currently is busy in making 3D version of the original ‘Mr India’ whereas its sequel is expected to release in 2014.
