Though it is an association of artists, the Nadigar Sangam has been involved in other activities for the welfare of cinema as a whole and by doing that it is acting as a perfect arm of the Kollywood film fraternity. One of the long term issues bothering Kollywood is piracy. All films beyond the general segregations based on budget, star value etc have been victimized by this menace. The recent biggies Theri` and 24` also had pirated versions.

Actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin`s latest film Manithan` which has emerged as one of the successful films of the year and still running in theatres has been screened in a private buss travelling from Coimbatore to Chennai. But the culprits have been nabbed within the end of the journey thanks to the vigilance of a passenger on board and the timely action of the Nadigar Sangam.

Coimbatore to Chennai bound CJSSB Travels bus was exhibiting Manithan` movie using pirated DVD in their bus. An alert had been made by a passenger from the bus to Nadigar Sangam. Nadigar Sangam had informed the Police at Koyambedu Police Station and Video Piracy Cell at Aynavaram. Video piracy Inspector Mr. Nandakumar and St.Thomas Mount Inspector Mr. Mahendran had raided the bus and have arrested Kathirvelan of Marungapuri, Trichy in this connection.

It is said that Actor Sriman in his capacity as the Executive Council Member of the Sangam directly involved himself in the operation for nabbing the culprit behind the pirated versions of of Manithan`.
