Naku Penta Naku Taka Movie Review - Gives a distant feel

After some different efforts that didn't work, director Vayalar Madhavankutty is now back with a Kenyan saga in the movie 'Nakku Penta, Nakku Taakku'. An intended thriller, the movie but fails to make any adrenaline rise, due to it little believable premise and average narratives.

Scripted by Jeyamohan of Ozhimuri fame, the movie is told as a flashback by Subha(Bhama) to an aged lady who is for the first time going to the African Nation. Years ago Subha also landed to Kenya in the belief that her husband Vinay(Indrajith) was working in America. She was made to believe that they will be soon taking another flight to America. But on reaching Kenya, she realizes that it was a plot hatched by her mother and her uncle to somehow marry off her. Subha gradually starts loving the pleasing manners of Vinay. But soon they got indulged into some murders which involved local tribal people and they are asked to elope in a different passports of one Anton Balasingam and his wife Amritha Vally. But little did they knew that the man was a dreaded criminal wanted by the interpol.

The movie shot extensively in Kenya has plenty of fine shots by Krish Kymal, showing the beauty of the African Nation. But the slim storyline doesn't have the flair to keep you immersed all through. The opening and the first half are pretty average but the later slides more to the below average tempo and predictable sequences.

The performances are even but an actor like  Indrajith doesn't have much to cherish. He sleep walks through the role while Bhama looks good. Murali Gopi tries to look dangerous with not much success. The rest of the actors doesn't have much to do. The music by Gopi Sundar suits the mood of the movie.

In the final take, this 'Naaku Penta, Naaku Taaka' may be remembered just for its curious title and for nothing else.At best , this can end up as an average family film, more cherished for the zebras and giraffe's on frame..
