Padma for Big B, Rajinikanth

This Republic Day, several of screen icons will be honoured with the nation's highest civilian awards - the Padma Awards.

The awardee list that has been released of late, boasts of having names of superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth and Dilip Kumar. Also from the tinsel town are filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, lyricist-ad guru Prasoon Joshi and scriptwriter Salim Khan (father of actor Salman Khan), music directors Anu Malik and Ravindra Jain also figure in the list of 148 recipients.

Incidentally, late actor Pran, the iconic on-screen villain of Bollywood, has also been nominated for the Padma award.

Besides film personalities, the Padma Awards' list include couple of politicians and scientists, religious gurus, several doctors, sports persons, businessmen, musicians and bureaucrats. LK Advani, Sri Sri, Baba Ramdev, Sudha Raghunathan are among those who will be conferred with the award.
