As predicted last week, 'Ragini MMS' took an opening in the vicinity of 40%. While the film turning into a success was never being questioned due to it's shoestring budget, all eyes were on whether the film would live up to the expectations. The film opened to mixed reviews with many hailing it for its unique concept while others calling it an over-hyped but average product. However no one trashed the film which was a welcome sign for this experimental film.

Amongst audience though the reactions are mixed which means the film won't have a smooth uninterrupted long run. With close to 4.5 crores coming over the weekend, the film has been decent but it won't quite turn out to be - what one calls in industry parlance - the 'surprise success' of the season as it doesn't have much shelf life beyond a week.

One particularly feels disappointed with the way 'Shagird' has performed. There were expectations that the Nana Patekar starrer would take at least 30% opening but even that wasn't the case with the film seeing much lesser footfalls and weekend collections to the tune of a mere 1.5 crores. Poor promotion is the sole reason behind such poor response because all those who saw the film appreciated it. In fact reviews too were uniformly good and Nana was seen in a light that is loved most by the audience. Arriving amidst a crowd, it only makes it further difficult for this Tigmanshu Dhulia affair to find a breathing space for itself.

'Stanley Ka Dabba' saw the best reviews coming it's way but lack of any awareness whatsoever meant that the weekend collections were a mere 1.5 crores due to a predicted opening of less than 20%. There was appreciation from those select few who saw it but lack of any known names coupled with poor promotion means that this Amol Gupte directed film would have to find an audience on home video and satellite.

The same can't be said about 'Love U... Mr. Kalakaar!' though which was always the weakest of the lot even before it's release. The opening, reviews as well as audience response conveyed the same as well with the film not even managing a face saving opening. Absence of a wide release also means that this Tusshar Kapoor-Amrita Rao film would have to fold up at very low collections.
