Director Venkatesh is searching for a heroine for his Petrol starring Prashanth in the lead role. They came close to casting Laila for the pivotal role. Unfortunately at the last moment, she backed out since she got married.

The shooting of the movie had to be halted and Prashanth ventured to do Jambhavan, since they could not find a suitable heroine. Now, the director seems to have settled for Renuka Menon.

The Malluwood lass entered the Tamil industry with February 14 and followed it up with Daas. Unfortunately both turned disasters at the box-office and left the actress hoping for a reversal of fortunes with her next release Kalaba Kadhalan alongside Arya.

The offer to act with Prashanth in Petrol has been a shot in the arm for Renuka Menon,who is keen on establishing herself in Kollywood.
