The Great Indian Butterfly - Stills

The promos of ‘The Great Indian Butterfly’ are gradually making their way into the grapevines circles for its urbanite theme and storyline. The film starring Aamir Bashir, Sandhya Mridul and Koel Puri, is based on married couple (Aamir- Sandhya) and their marital problems.

Playing the wife’s role, Sandhya Mridul reflects a bold and frank woman of the contemporary age. And looks like the actress enjoyed doing the character; for Sandhya is truly a no-nonsense gal at heart.

Talking about the film, Sandhya shared that she plays an urban woman and wife who is constantly fighting with her husband. The pressures of their job and the surrounding atmosphere in the city take a toll on everything including their sex lives. On this note, the actress puts on a defensive tone by adding, “But I must say that all of that starts because men prioritise work in their life and invariably take it to bed with them, while you expect women to take care of everything else about the house.” However Sandhya maintains that she is not actually a man-hater or that she is against men.

Although she feels that she is not ready for marriage yet, Sandhya is confident that her married life won’t be same as that of the film’s story. And if at all her man turns out like her on-screen hubby, then she wouldn’t take it with hands down.

At the same time, she understands the importance of men’s support. “Men are a necessity but it is not like you cannot live without them. I think every girl who has got married realises that at some point. And everybody chases some quick-fix solution to their marriage. But there’s no such thing except for the minds of some men,” stated the actress.

Finally Sandhya remarks that by being single she is quite happy the way she is right now and doesn’t want to spoil it. Making hay till the sun shines, madam?

Bannered under White Feather Films and Eros Entertainment, ‘The Great Indian Butterfly’ hits the screen this 26th March.
