Its been a numbers game in TN with Sasikala and Panneerselvam striving to prove majority. Jayalalithaa's long time confidante, Sasikala, has staked claim to form Government, while the Governor seems to have decided to test the waters for a while.
A crucial decider in the ongoing political scuffle would likely happen today, as the 20 year old disproportionate assets case will have its hearing at the Supreme Court today. A bench of justices PC Ghose and AK Roy will assemble at 10:30 AM IST and deliver the verdict of the case where Saikala, Ilavarasi, and V N Sudhakaran are the accused. Legal proceedings against Jayalalithaa, the main accused of the case, will be abated following her demise on December 5.
Sasikala's acquittal is her biggest stepping stone on her path to the CM, while her conviction would do the same for OPS instead. But there is also a possibility of s split verdict and we will have to wait and watch how the verdict comes out.
