Aamir Khan's nude picture on the poster of Rajkumar Hirani, P.K. has opened the Pandora’s Box about sex and how film makers have exploited sex to mint money. According to a film historian sex has always been the ‘safest bet’ at box -office!!! In fact, to save a movie from drowning Bollywood has always depended on at least one ‘skin displaying’ ‘item’ song that ensures, at least the opening day’s collections!
However now it seems today’s film makers have gone a step ahead and have began a trend of designing sexually arousing posters to draw crowds to cinema halls. Aamir’s Khan’s poster of P.K. is a pointer.
However Aamir Khan’s poster of P.K. is not the first poster that needs to be condemned but over the years film makers have used tantalizing posters to entice film buffs throng cinema hall.
Among the first poster that used pornography vividly on the poster was that of B. R. Ishara’s movie CHETNA that had the shapely nude legs of its heroine Rehana Sultana displayed on its hoarding pasted throughout the nation, thus sending signals - Sex is here to stay!!!
It may come as a shock, but it’s true that sex in Bollywood has been prevalent from the 20’s when Himanshu Rai and Devika Rani, took the nation by storm by their ‘hot’ Chumma’ in the movie ‘KARMA’ However, with Independence the Indian censor board tightened their screws on sex and vulgarity thus slapping film makers of any liberties in indulging in any indecent exposure and follow their strict code of conduct - No sex please, we are Indians!
However one cannot deny the reality that there is a wide audience for such wretched image of sexuality. It indicates Indian audiences are perverted and the Indian producers take maximum benefit of this fact.
