The Central Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against Singamuthu and six others based on a complaint from Vadivelu, for allegedly selling a property confiscated by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) near Chennai.

The 50-page chargesheet has the statements of Vadivelu and a TIIC senior official apart from other vital documents. The trial began after the chargesheet copies were given to all the accused.

According to reports, one Ramachandra Reddy, who owned 34 cents land in Mudichur, provided surety to one of his relatives who borrowed loan from the TIIC. When he defaulted the payments, TIIC decided to confiscate the asset and auction it.

However, Singamuthu, who was allegedly known to Reddy’s family, sold the property to Vadivelu in 2002. It came to light that TIIC had sold the property to one Palaniappan only after Vadivelu tried to fence the property.
