Around 54 feature films throughtout India including five Tamil movies and twelve Hindi movies have been just held back for the release due to the lack of No Objection certificate (NOC) from the prescribed authority.

Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI)has been issuing the NOC to the films in which animals have been used, till the month of April 2006. Since the ammended act of 2002, passed by The Ministry of Environment and Forest the authorization for the AWBI to issue NOC to the films was cancelled.

The sensor board is also not allowed to give censor certificate to the films those have used animals without the NOC. Because of this issue the whole film industry and films with huge investment like Imsai Arasu.. has been stalled.

The film industry is looking for the intervention of the government into the issue because the completed films are unable to be screened on account that who is to issue the NOC under the performing animal registration act.
