Totti Jaya

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

If it was all love and romance for Silambarasan in Manmadhan, then it is blood-curdling violence and sturdy emotions in Totti Jaya.

The film is  about a carefree youth fighting it out with a group of anti-socials in the Chennai city. Directed by Durai, who rendered a hit in Mugavari, Totti Jaya stars Gopika opposite Simbu.

Totti Jaya is basically an action film with plenty of warm sentiments, says Durai. Simbu has undergone a makeover for this flick. He has a thick beard with black rope on his wrists. He portrays a man who has been brought up in rough and tough surroundings, who never cares for anything or anybody in life.

For Gopika, who is still to find her feet in the Tamil industry, this is an important film. She needs a success to stay afloat.

Harris Jeyaraj, fresh from the success of Anniyan,  has scored the music for this film. Noted pop singer Ceylon Manohar plays a baddie in the movie.

Though the shooting of the movie was over a few months ago, the release was delayed since Simbu allegedly demanded more salary from producer Thanu.

After a war of words all things were settled out between the two and the dubbing works for the movie commenced recently.

Thanu plans to release the film this month-end.

Durai says, 'it's a fast paced movie with action and emotions in right mix. Simbu has given his all for a difficult role. It is sure to be a treat for his fans'.

Simbu, who is finding his name hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons, hopes Totti Jeya will give him a good reason for the same.
