Harris Jeyaraj is the musician of the month in Kollywood after back to back success in Anniyan and Ullam Ketkumae.
Expectations are high on the music-composer and he seems to have lived up all hype and expectations in Totti Jaya.
He has come up with six numbers including the theme music and there is a good mix of everything in it.
With the likes of Shankar Mahadevan, Bombay Jayashree, Anuradha Sreeram and Karthik rendering the songs, Totti Jaya is sure to top the audio charts.
Ceylon Manohar, famous for Sri Lankan Baila songs, has also lent his voice for a number besides acting in the movie.
1) Uyire En Uyire (Anuradha Sriram, Bombay Jayashree, Karthik)
What can one expect when the voices of energetic Anuradha Sreeram and dynamic Bombay Jayashree come together. This song is a testimony to Harris Jeyaraj's excellent orchestration skills as he comes up with soft lilting music which flows smoothly all through. Karthik chips in with his bit. The song just wafts over like soft mist in a hill resort.
2) Achu Vellam (Ranjith, Saindhavi, Shankar Mahadevan)
Perhaps this should go down as the happening number in the album. A peppy rhythm and resonance inspired by Punjabi Bhangra, the song sees Shankar Mahadevan having a free run. And his gusto, it's the piece well. Saindhavi giving Shankar Mahadevan a solid support, adds more charm to the number. With a racy tune and catchy lyrics, the song is sure to begin from where Harris Jeyaraj's Randaka Randaka ended.
3) Thotta Power (Shankar Mahadevan) A momentum-filled number glorifying the hero. And for Shankar Mahadevan, such songs have always been a cake walk. With abundant energy, he lends his best. It's a sort of tune unheard from Harris Jeyaraj before. .
4) Yaaridamum (Harini, Ramesh Vinayagam)
This is typical Harris territory full of nuanced melody yet filled with rare energy. Ramesh Vinayakam and Harini seem an unlikely combination. But Harris's tune and tempo make them work. The effective use of saxophone reminds one much of the `Rahman touch' in him. A classical melody sure to rock the charts.
5) Yaari Singari (Ceylon Manohar, Srilekha, Karthik, Sriram Parthasarathy)
Get ready to jive, shake your hips and snap your fingers as Ceylon Manohar others reach for the top. It is as if sitting in a F-1 car and careening along --- full of fun and speed. Harris Jeyaraj's improvisations add sheen to the song.
On the whole, Harris proves that his form is well and truly intact.
