One of the biggest blockbusters in Tamil cinema history and the career of Mani Ratnam is 'Bombay' which enjoyed a superlative run all over India and abroad in all the major languages including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

'Bombay' had Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala as the lead pair and their scenes and songs together are still a talking point even after twenty two years. News has surfaced now that Mani Ratnam's first choice for the hero was not Arvind Swamy but Vikram who could not do it for unknown reasons. However Chiyaan later worked with the class director in 'Ravanan' and is rumored to be one of his heroes along with Vijay and Ram Charan Teja in his next mega venture after 'Kaatru Veliyidai'.
