It has been a long time since Shriya Saran has made an impact in a Telugu film. In her hey days in Telugu, she was sought after by stars like Chiranjeevi (Tagore) and Nagarjuna (Santosham) and directors like K Raghavendra Rao (Subash Chandra Bose). Cut to the second half of the 2000s, Shriya had to make do with an item song in Komaram Puli. (It would be in the fitness of things to add that she has had a good time in Kollywood, what with films coming from the likes of Shankar (Anniyan and Shivaji).

Looks like glorious days are back to Shriya in Telugu. With Shekar Kammula himself having knocked on her door, she can’t ask for more. Life is Beautiful, Kammula's next film, stars Shriya in a key role.

It may be said that the actress has a meaty role in the film. The film is about the post-college life of the woman. Touted as a breezy and feel-good film, the film is understood to be a hatke offering. Given Kammula’s track record of making a demure and modest Kamalinee Mukherjee and then an unfamiliar Tamanna into stars overnight, it is anybody’s guess that he is going to give Shriya an opportunity of a life-time here.

Well, Shriya has a good hear ahead. Apart from Life is Beautiful (which is currently being shot in Ramoji Film City), she has Shaguni (the Karthi-starrer) on the anvil. Winds of Change and Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai are her other big offers. In Telugu, she is acting opposite Sharwanand and Allari Naresh.
