There are reasons to smile for those who vouch for Bollywood. Escapist cinema had its fair share of audience all over again as 'Yaariyan', after a good start at the box office, stayed reasonably consistent at the box office through the weekdays as well. Though there wasn't any major momentum that the film picked, even decent footfalls were good enough to ensure that this Divya Khosla Kumar film had good collections to boast of. As a result, 27 crore came in which are quite good for a film of this scale and size.

The film may just about stretch to touch the 35 crore mark, and hence earn a hit tag for itself. Now this is the highest that a film with an all newcomer cast with no Bollywood background has ever fetched at the box office.

On the other hand veterans came together in 'Dedh Ishqiya' but the film didn't really scale many heights. The good news though is that the film was quite consistent, albeit on the lower side, right through the weekdays. This hadn't seemed possible after a disappointing first day but multiplexes saw select gentry patronizing the film, as a result of which the footfalls didn't fall down in a major way. The film has now crossed the 20 crore mark, which ideally was an expectation for just the weekend. While 22 crore of 'Ishqiya' would now be crossed, the film would have to stretch to touch 30 crore.
