Released in 2012, the movie Naan directed by cinematographer turned director Jeeva Shankar, a former associate of cinematographer Jeeva was released and turned out to be a surprise success at the box office.

Naan marked the acting debut of music director Vijay Antony, who played a role with grey shades, and also scored music for the movie which also starred Siddharth Venugopal and Rupa Manjari.

Now, director Jeeva Shankar has revealed in a recent interview that his first choice to play the lead role in Naan wasn't Vijay Antony. Initially Jeeva Shankar had narrated Naan to Dhanush, but as he couldn't narrate the script convincingly, Dhanush didn't give his nod for the project, and ultimately became Vijay Antony's acting debut.
