One of the most expected Hollywood movies of the year, the massive $200 million budgeted Mulan has now decided to opt out of theatrical release. The Walt Disney Co. announced yesterday that the live action movie will directly premiere on their subscription streaming service, Disney+, on September 4.

It has also been announced that customers will have to pay an additional $29.99 on top of the monthly subscriptions cost to rent Mulan. In other places where Disney Plus is not available, Walt Disney is planning to release Mulan in theaters.

It must be noted that Mulan, the live-action remake of the animated film was one of the first movies affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Initially planned as a March 27 release, Mulan was postponed to late July, and late August and now has opted for a direct OTT release after Covid-19 cases increased in the US.
