Malayalam cinema holds a special relation with its superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal. Both of them who completed 25 years of stardom recently still caters to the film buffs every where in the state.

When every other languages has reared young stars in the place of old lions, Malayalam just refuses to accept new comers and young heroes and their loyalty and devotion to the masters-M&M is total, at least in the case of cinema.

The past decade saw at least the arrival of around 20 heroes who promised wonders on their debut. But none of these heroes have been able to churn out a hit on their own strength at the box-office, after their dubious welcome hits. And now a few films are in the making that may turn against the odds.

The major one Classmates is an Onam offering scheduled to get a release next week. The film casts everyone of the young second heroes like Naren, Jayasuriya, Prithviraj and Indrajit who crave for hits for long. The unity sometimes may prove strength in their case, as their independent films were washouts even from the day two.

Classmates are being aggressively marketed by Lal releases which use to select with utmost care, the flicks that they are promoting. Now that the initial response of the cinegoers are filled with bigger expectations, the formula of coming together may run for long ,if Classmates become a major winner of the Onam.
