There is little doubt about who is the most popular heroine in the Malayalam film industry at present. With a large number of surveys and figures in her support which claims a 70 percent voting for her, Kavya Madhavan is the undisputed numero uno, finding a place in the hearts of Malayalam film lovers.

Kavya Madhavan, hailing from Neeleswaram in Kasargode district of Kerala, began her acting career as a child artiste at the age of five with the Kamal directed Pookaalam Varavaayi.

When young director Lal Jose made his second film Chandranudikunna Dikkil, Kavya debuted as the heroine opposite Dileep. Then came Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Sahayathrikaykku Snehapoorvam, Madhuranombarakaattu, Darling Darling and Dosth, which projected her strong presence in Malluwood.

With films like Thenkasipattanam, Oomapenninu Uriyaadappayyan and the blockbuster Meesha Madhavan, she became one of the top heroines of Malayalam cinema, and she has been retaining this position so far.

While most of her contemporaries have sought greener pastures in Tamil and Telugu, Kavya managed to remain here, even though she also made a mark in few films in Tamil.

While it is with Dileep that she has acted the most, she has also acted alongside Mohanlal in Onnaaman and Vadakkumnaathan, opposite Jayaram in Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, with Mammootty in Aparichithan, and with Suresh Gopi in Thenkasipattanam. She was also cast alongside almost all other major stars of Malayalam like Jaysuriya, Kunchako Boban, Prithviraj and Indrajeet.

It is to be noted that she was also the heroine in Classmates, which is not just the biggest hit of 2006, but also the biggest hit ever in the history of Malayalam cinema. She has also delivered sensitive performances in films like Mizhirandilum, Jeevan Mosai, Perumazhakaalam and Vasthavam. With the Lohithdas-directed Chakkaramuththu, Kavya has crossed the 50-film mark .The young actress continues to be at the helm of commercial success and activity with the largest number of her films poised to hit the screen in the coming years.
