Although this award ceremony will be devoid of the publicity, hype, glitz and glamour associated with the famous awards of Bollywood, Preity Zinta will forever remember the proceedings of the day.

Because the award for which she has been selected for is given in the memory of one of the finest actors produced by the country.

The actress will receive the Smitha Patil Memorial Award at the Silver Jubilee Global Awards Function on September 19.

The award is given by Priyadarshini Academy which is a non governmental organization with focus on socio-cultural and educational activities.

The award in the name of Smitha Patil was started in the year 1984.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh will be presenting the award to the Bollywood actress.

Preity Zinta has been selected for the honour as a recognition towards her contributions to the Hindi film Industry.
