There was a 100 crore market spread wide open for 'Action Replayy' and 'Golmaal 3' to enjoy over the weekend. This is the reason why it was expected that even on a conservative scale, there would be at least 50 crores coming in as the combined weekend total for both the films.

However, there weren't bumper collections on Friday though 'Golmaal 3' had an edge over 'Action Replayy'. It took an early lead and brought home a 6 crores plus. Of course, ideally one would have expected at least 8 crores even after accounting for Diwali but still, collections in the tune of over 50% at most centres meant that 'Golmaal 3' was on the safe grounds as the weekend progressed.

On the other hand the opening Friday for 'Action Replayy' saw a little over 2 crores coming in which made it crystal clear that audience had decided 'Golmaal 3' to be their first choice. Big budget movies listed as A grade projects are of course expected to open far better but Friday collections were heartbreaking. However, it was a 'kabhi gham kabhi khushi' scenario for the makers here as the film showed a huge multi fold jump over the weekend. While 200% rise in collections was a norm almost all over, at places the film even had an exponential rise of more than 300%, hence lending 'Action Replayy' a fighting chance.

As things stand today, none of the two films have been written off with appreciation coming in for 'Action Replayy' [which is continuing to show good jumps] as well as 'Golmaal 3' [which has been maintaining a good upwards graph]. With no major release till 19th November when 'Guzaarish' arrives, it could well turn out to be a winner Diwali for both the films this year.
