Some time back talks had intensified around Saif Ali Khan being the chosen one to play the role of a 'nawab' in Sudhir Mishra's dream project 'The Nawab The Nautch Girl & The John's Company'. Also, it was a given that Chitrangda Singh would be the leading lady. However as things stand today, the project is indefinitely on hold with both Saif as well as Sudhir moving on to different projects.

Confirms Mishra, "Yes, 'The Nawab The Nautch Girl & The John's Company' isn't happening as of now. It is a bigger film when compared to the other films that I have made and required a certain amount of budget, commitment and concentration."

Set in the 19th century, 'The Nawab The Nautch Girl & The John's Company' is a period drama for which Saif had apparently not just given a nod of approval in the capacity of an actor but also expressed an interest in chipping in as a producer. However he later got busy with 'Agent Vinod' and Sudhir Mishra too moved on.

"Well, I will definitely make the film but not in near future", says Mishra who has just tasted success with 'Yeh Saali Zindagi', "Before that I would be making another film with Prakash Jha. Then my next would be 'Dhruv' with Kareena Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Chitrangda Singh."

Seems one would have to wait a wee bit longer before Saif is seen in his 'nawaabi' mood on screen.
