The 1976 blockbuster directed by Narendra Bedi had Amitabh Bachchan in a double role (father and son) Mr Bachchan received Filmfare nomination for the best actor for this film but lost to Sanjeev Kumar in Aandhi where arguably Sanjeev Kumar has given his career best performance. The movie also starred Waheeda Rehman Pinchoo Kapoor, Sujit Kumar and Kader Khan.

Narayana Rao Dasari remade Adalaat` in Telugu titled Sivamettina Satyam` starring Krishnamraju and Sharada.
