Diplomacy is as much a Key word in Politics as it is in the world of Make-Believe. The war between Amitabh Bachchan and SRK has been written about in plenty. Now, with Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ getting closer to release date, the speculation is mounting whether they would get together for the promotions together. KJ had planned a grand Premiere. But now it stands cancelled.

The reason given is that ‘How can we celebrate when we’ve just come out of a disaster like the Bomb blasts’. Well, right…In that situation you should have cancelled showcasing the film itself. Or, maybe announced donating the first day’s collection to the victim’s families!

Let me give you the diplomatic dope first up. A special screening of KANK was organized for the lead pairs. After the film got over, Big B sent a bouquet with a message to SRK saying that this is by far his best performance till date. Now, for some action! Apparently Mr Bachchan didn’t like the fact that SRK is hogging almost each and every frame of the film while Abhishek is being presented as a second lead. According to Mr B, Aby baby is a big star today and the audience would want to see him presented in a bigger way. KJ, reportedly went ahead and shot an additional song ‘Where’s the Party Tonight’ only with Junior B and excluded SRK completely.

The reason for the cancellation of the premiere is being given as the fact that both Bachchan and Shahrukh refused to attend it jointly. They won’t be promoting the film jointly either. In fact, SRK wasn’t a part of the IIFA Awards in Dubai where Karan released the music of the film along with Amitabh (Who is the brand ambassador of IIFA). KJo had to organize a separate release function with SRK in London where he had been holidaying with family.

Shahrukh is fascinated with Amitabch Bachchan even though he is opposing him tooth and nail in real life. It is being said that SRK is willing to produce the 1975 Yash Chopra classic ‘Deewar’ and play Vijay. Producer Gulshan Rai’s son Rajiv Rai is not willing to part with the rights of the film as he feels a great film can’t be replicated in today’s time and age even if it has Shahrukh Khan.

Big B hasn’t commented on this move so far. I have a hunch that all this rivalry business can also be a move on the part of shrewd producers to pep up their film. We already know what controversy can do to the fortunes of a film. ‘Fanaa’ is a case in point. Let’s wait and watch whether KANK goes the similar way.
