It is turning out to be an unbelievable season at the box office with Bollywood enjoying back to back successes. 'Murder 2' has not just joined but in fact topped the list when it comes to the ROI (return on investment) factor as this franchise from Bhatt brothers was wrapped up in medium budget. On the other hand with 36 crores coming in a matter of one single week, it has astonished everyone associated with the film as well.

'Murder 2' has not just turned out to be the biggest success ever for the Bhatt camp; it is now already Emraan's biggest grosser till date when it comes to his solo releases. While 'Jannat' had done just a little in the upwards of 30 crores, 'Murder 2' with it's 36 crores tag is already sitting pretty at superhit mark with very good chances of making further progress.

The film is also special for Emraan since after Salman, it is he who has enjoyed maximum footfalls in the opening week. Even though 'Double Dhamaal' as well as 'Delhi Belly' had netted similar collections (in the range of 36 crores after one week), Emraan's film has managed to elbow them out, hence enabling him to sit pretty in elite company. For Bollywood, which has forever been hunting for a saleable star beyond the obvious Top-5, here is an answer now with Emraan adding on to yet another success to his ever increasing repertoire.

So while this adult drama fetched very good numbers for itself, kiddie flick 'Chillar Party' too managed to make it's presence felt with around 5 crores coming in at the end of first week. However trouble with the film is that it has hardly found screen space for itself in it's second week with 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' as well as the last installment of 'Harry Potter' vying for all the attention. With 'Chillar Party' hardly enjoying any shows for itself in the second week, it would have to hunt for its audience on satellite and home video circuit.
