After the remake of ‘Agneepath’, the next remake project which is keenly waited upon is Apoorva Lakhia’s ‘Zanjeer’.

According to the latest development on the movie’s front is that Arjun Rampal has opted out of the film.

Sources claim that the handsome actor exited out of the remake citing dates issues. It is known that he was to reprise the role of Sher Khan originally enacted by Pran in the yesteryear cult hit.

It was almost finalized that Arjun would soon join the shoot but latest reports indicate that the actor dropped the film because he has no option.

The new version of ‘Zanjeer’ will have Telugu star Ram Charan playing the lead role that had Amitabh Bachchan in original while Priyanka Chopra will don the female lead played by Jaya Bachchan.

While speculations are rife that Sanjay Dutt will replace Arjun in the remake, director Apoorva Lakhia denied it saying that they are yet to finalise an actor for the Sher Khan role.

Released in 1973, ‘Zanjeer’ was directed by Prakash Mehra and written by Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. The remake will now be produced by Mehra’s son Amit and also stars Prakash Raj and Mahi Gill.
