2012 has been the year of hits for Akshay Kumar. Agog with excitement Akshay Kumar is looking forward to 2013 with the same enthusiasm and gusto his next Special Chabbis is swelling in popularity day by day. In conversation with indiaglitz the actor speaks about his role in Special Chabbis and why the film is close to his heart. Over to Akshay:

your role in Special Chabbis?

My role is about the real incidents that took place in 1986 where a character posed as fake CBI. It has no resemblance to Natwarlal.

Any home work for the role?

Nothing, I came with a blank slate. All the research work had been done by Neeraj , it was his dialogue, story and screenplay. I just went by his instructions and did the class work.

What made you confident of Neeraj?

I had seen his last film Wednesday and since he knows his job well as he is a writer to. I was confident that he would do a good job. Wednesday was a very good film. His script has been acquired by Hollywood. I think he is the only director in the industry who script has been acquired by Hollywood. Usually we take their scripts. I loved the screenplay. He was completely prepared on the sets. I like the fact that I get to work with different directors. In Rowdy Rathore I could get to do a lot of things spontaneously. Every director has his own style.

Have you ever been duped in life?

Many a times, I cannot relate the incidents but it has happened many a times. I don’t think there’s anyone in this world who has not been duped. You get duped everyday be it from the milk man or during your travel.

You where confident of Neeraj then why refused the film initially?

I read his script and I didn’t find it so interesting. It was just about alright. But Neeraj was persistent and he narrated the script to me. Since he had written it he had a different style of narration and I liked it. Usually when someone narrates a story to you it sounds very interesting. I heard the narration two times and I enjoyed it. I said yes to him.

Working with Anupam Kher this time?

Yes I have done many films with him but with this film I found a friend in him. I enjoyed it. Earlier we would converse with each other once a year. Now we talk to each other every other day. He is a National Award winner actor and so is Manoj Bajpai but I found a new friend in Anupam.

How was the experience working with south sensation Kajal Agarwal?

She’s a lovely beautiful girl and very talented and professional and fitted the character aptly. Neeraj had described the girl to be very sober and homely. We had seen her in Singham and she was good. She plays a school teacher in the film. We bonded well

You did this film on a 50% discount?

For me this movie is very important and I believe that a film has to be made with a certain budget. Every film has its own budget and audience. When I heard the story and the budget and charged half the remuneration. I don’t want to put pressures on the producer and director. It’s a great product and people are going to like it. I am proud of the film. I enjoyed the whole film.

You are a superstar now where do you stand in the race today?

I have said time and again that I don’t believe in competitions or in the number 1 game. I don’t believe in the race game today. Races are for horses may the winner win.

Do you believe in the superstar tag?

I am not in search of super stardom but if the tag is given to me I will certainly accept it. Who will not? But I am actor and I got to learn a lot from this film. I am learning every day.

Does the line from the film Asli Power Dil Mein Hai apples for you in real life?

I have always believed in the motto that real power is in our heart and not in the forearms or my muscles. I always do what I believe in. That’s the motto of my life.

2012 has been a great year for you how optimistic are you for 2013?

It was a fantastic year as all my films did well. I hope I have a great year this year too. I have great films in hand. There’s Special 26, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Boss, Muragadoss’s next film

Salman Khan seems to be your biggest competition in Bollywood as both of you got mass following?

I believe in my work and Salman believes in his. We both are friends and we don't believe in numbers.
