The month of February in 2010 was encouraging for Kannada cinema and that is because of one ‘Aptha Rakshaka’. It is true that ‘Aptha Rakshaka’ has eaten at least 10 Kannada films profits but it has been a major boon to the sagging image of the Kannada cinema says the film pundits.

In the month of February 10 films got released and the top stars like Sudeep and Ramya starring ‘Just Math Mathalli’ and Ramesh Aravind ‘Crazy Kutumba’ could not make big noise. Failing in the box office Sudeep has adjusted his call sheet for producer R Shanker.

The last week of February 2010 saw ‘Sugriva’ the much expected film looks very bleak at the box office. The films like ‘Ram’, ‘Porkhi’ and ‘Maleyali Jotheyali’ the films of earlier two months faded at the box office because of ‘Aptha Rakshaka’.

Yaare Nee Devathe, Vimukthi, Mukhaputa, Belli Modadha Ambara, Jugari and Varshadhare are the other Kannada films released in February 2010.

Upendra and Rockline combination ‘Symbol’ was launched in this month in a grand style. Srujan Lokesh wedding, Ramya releasing the book on Shanker Nag, 4th annual SP Varadaraju Awards to Sadashiva Brahmavar and theatre personality BP Rajamma, director and nonagenarian MV Krishnaswamy received the V Shantharam award in his residence, cameramen honor to VK Murthy, honorary doctorates to Bharathi Vishnuvardhana, Mukyamantri Chandru, Girish Kasaravalli and VK Murthy were some of the event of the month.

Also in February, The Saiprakash suicide attempt shook the industry personalities but he recovered after proper treatment. Actor BK Shanker died of jaundice in home town Gadag.
