Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja issues legal notice to the Manjummel Boys producers

In recent years, Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja has been adamant about protecting the copyright of his songs. He is taking legal action against new films that use his old songs without permission. Most recently, the maestro issued a legal notice to the creators of Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' for using his song 'Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa'.

The latest update is that the legendary musician has sent a legal notice to the producers of the sensational Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys' for using the song 'Kanmani Anbodu' from 'Gunaa'. This romantic melody was featured in the movie to underscore the theme of friendship, as it tells the story of a group of boys rescuing their friend who fell into a pit in the 'Gunaa' caves in Kodaikanal.

Ilaiyaraaja's notice says, "As the creator of the song, I am the full owner of the song as per the copyright law and therefore permission should have been obtained before using my song. Upon seeing this notice, the song shall be removed from the film or compensation shall be paid for the use of the song, otherwise, legal and criminal action shall be taken as willful infringement of copyright." We have to wait for a response from the movie team.
