Veteran director, writer, producer Sreekumaran Thambi has come down heavily on the two superstars ruling the Malayalam film industry- Mohanlal and Mammootty. The director said that though he provided the duo with a platform to scale the heights, they never respected him. Whenever he approached them for dates, the duo used to evade him.

Sreekumaran Thampi calls them ungrateful and that their indifference is the main reason why he quit making films, as theatre owners and distributes demanded that he cast the duo in his movies. He revealed that Mammootty went to the extend of insulting him by saying that he is ready to act in a movie produced by him, and that he should stick to writing and producing.
