Complaint against Padmabushan nomination of Mohanlal

Actor Mohanlal has been featured in the list of nominees for the Padmabushan award recently. An official complaint has been forwarded by the Anti-Corruption and Human Rights Council against the nomination of the actor.

The Council has pointed out in its complaint to the Central Home Secretary that the actor was involved in an illegal case of ivory possession, which is a breach of the wildlife protection act. A detailed exposure of the raid has been given in its letter to the Prime Minister and the President. The council points out that awarding the Padmabushan to Mohanlal would set a very bad example in this regard. Interestingly, no living actor in India has been awarded the Padmabushan.
