Director Alphonse Puthran had challenged Bollywood director ('Chennai Epress' fame) in an open letter stating that he should refrain from insulting an entire community knowingly or unknowingly using his "wonderful language skills". Alphonse was referring to Rohit's portrayal of Tamilians in 'Chennai Express'.

Alphonse advices Rohit Shetty to wtach his movie 'Premam', saying that he has tried his best to keep up with the standards of each language. He adds that Rohit might like 'Premam' too. Alphonse acknowledges that if he had made this coment earlier, Rohit would have wiped his backside with it. But now, with 'Premam' as a yardstick, he advices Rohit to wash his face and wipe his ignorance. The open letter has not gone down well with many Shahrukh fans and the director is getting quite a bashing from them.
