Dileep is an unlucky actor. This opinion was put forth by none other than ace director Lal Jose. He has directed Dileep in a number of movies including 'Meeshamadhavan', 'Spanish Masala', 'Vhandupottu', 'Mulla', 'Rasikan', 'Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal'. Of them 'Rasikan', 'Spanish Masala' et al fared badly.

Though 'Meeshamadhavan' and 'Chandupootu' were hit movie and showed Dileep's acting prowess. Lal Jose opines that those were performances which deserved an award, but that the actor was over looked for the same. Lal Jose says that Dileep observes everything very carefully and that he emotes them well.
