"You can't throw us out too soon. We will be around for more," says Mammootty on the long reign of veteran stars like him and Mohanlal in Malluwood cinema. In a recent press meeting, the actor explained how he was able to play refreshingly over the years as he tried to continuously reinvent his characters.

"The best example of this is my latest film 'Karuthu Pakshigal'. The film and my character provide a lot of emotional entertainment," says an overjoyed Mammootty on the critical acclaim that the film got.

Mammootty’s forthcoming films include a lot to be included in this breed. His christmas release 'Palunku' directed by Blessy, 'Ore Kadal' by Shyamaprasad, Renjith's 'Kaiyoppu' and 'Pazhassi Raja' by Hariharan will certainly fit into the mould of emotional cinema, even though he occasionally takes an outing like Rajamanikyam and Pothen Vava.

The star said, when asked why he hadn't done any films with actor Mohanlal in recent times, both of them belonged to a different class altogether as Mammootty is Mammootty and Mohanlal is Mohanlal.

"If we are to work together again, it should be in an epic film which should be etched into the memory of viewers for a long time. I told that the film to be produced by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) will include both of us," he said.
