Veteran Filmmaker and chairman of the state owned KSFDC, KG George accused the super stars of Malayalam cinema for dictating to make those kinds of films that cater to their whims and fancies.

While speaking on a discussion on Malayalam films organized by State PRD, George heavily criticized the super stars for diluting the aesthetic values of Malayalam films, while making hero centric movies Producer Sureshkumar who is also the main office bearer of producer organizations was in the view that the heavy remuneration of the stars have made it difficult for Malayalam cinema to survive in the time of crisis.

As around 65 percent of the cost of the movie is being spend as the payment to artists, Malayalam cinema gets very less capital to create a quality movie. ''And so a number of theatre owners and producers have now joined together to promote new talents and produce movies with fresh faces. We have also entered into an agreement with the theatre owners so that they will show the movie at least for a two weeks'', said Sureshkumar.

The criticisms aired by both these personalities are of big interests as both of them happen to be the thick friends of the super stars. It was through George’s Yavanika that Mammootty has gained the superstar status in the eighties, thereafter he had been with him in many more ventures. And Sureshkumar is a producer who is known to be in the inside'' gang'' of Lal belt. He has produced more than a dozen movies with Mohanlal, last being 'Mahasamudram' which came out a couple of years ago.
