‘Kutty Shranku’ to open in Montreal Fest

‘Kutty Shranku’, the movie which brings together the internationally acclaimed director Shaji N Karun and Megastar Mammootty, will be premiered at the 2009 edition of Montreal International Film Festival. The reputed festival which will be held between August 27 ands September 7, will have the movie screened at the “Great films Section”, which will also feature films from Majid Majidi and Woody Allen. Produced by Anil Ambani's Reliance Big Pictures, the movie will have Mammootty as a Shranku, a boat driver who runs a cargo service. Kamalini Mukherjee, Padmapriya and Sreelankan actress Meenakumari are the three women whom the boat driver share a special relationship. Shot mostly at the beautiful backwaters of Kuttanad in three different backdrops and climatic conditions, the movie is the first Mollywood film to be cinematographed by a camera woman. Anjali Shukla a former assistant to Santhosh Sivan cranks the camera for this movie.

Plans are also there to present the movie as an Onam release of Mammootty, soon after its premiere at the Montreal.
