State should forgo revenue from alcohol-Mammootty

Malayalam superstar Mammootty launched ‘Vazhikaatti', an anti-drug use awareness campaign organised by the Care and Share International Foundation, on Saturday. The function held at the K.E.M. School, Alangad, near Nedumbassery was attended by eminent personalities of the cultural sphere

The actor in his inaugural speech has urged the government to be bold enough to reject the revenue generated from alcohol for a healthy and value-based society. ''There are instances of many youngsters who were lured to terrorism by drugs and alcohol. Students and youngsters should be made aware of the evil effects of alcohol and narcotics through awareness programmes”, Mammootty said. Mammootty also named former Vice-Chancellor of Sanskrit University K S Radhakrishnan, as the captain of the ‘Vazhikaatti’ scheme.

Justice K Narayana Kurup in his keynote address named liquor and drugs as the biggest villains in the world Care and Share managing director Fr Thomas Kurien, Roy M Muthoot, V D Satheesan and DEO Sobhana spoke at the occasion.
