Five each for Tanmatra, Ananthabhadram

Tanmatra may not be commercially successful. It certainly is so critically. This Blessy-directed venture has won five awards including that of best film and director in the Kerala state film awards announced yesterday.

The sensitive film onan Alzheimer disease victim (played with rare sensitivity by Mohnalal) has, among others won the best director, script-writer and best actor (for Mohanlal) awards.

Arjun Lal (Tanmatra again) got a special jury mention. So did Dileep for Chanthupottu

Navya Nair got the best actress award for her roles in Saira and Kanne Madanguka.

Bhavana walked away with the second best actress award for her performance in Daivanamathil.

Achanuranghatha Veedu directed by Lal Jose was chosen the second best film and Salim Kumar got the award for second best actor for his role in the film.

Ananthabhadram, directed by Santosh Sivan, got five awards, including that of best cinematographer for the director,for music direction for song (M.G. Radhakrishnan), editing (Sreekar Prasad), art direction (Sunil Babu) and make-up (Pattanam Rasheed).

Achuvinte Amma directed by Sathyan Anthikkad was chosen the best popular film with aesthetic appeal while Roshan Andrews was adjudged the best debut director for the film Udayananu Tharam.

M Jayachandran got the best playback singer for his song in Nottam while veteran got it on the distaff side for the same film.
