Based on collection charts and trade projections the top five movies of the season are

1. "Classmates" - Director Lal Jose brings together a bunch of youngsters -- Prithviraj, Naren, Jayasurya, Indrajith and others are in a novel campus film. The script and the takings offer a plenty for an audience who had been tied to the superstar histrionics for long. With no negative admirers, the film is all set to become the topper of the season.

2. "Mahasamudram" - Top Malayalam actor Mohanlal's Onam offering for his fans sees him playing a fisherman for the first time. Directed by S. Janardhanan, the film had an amazing opening in box office. Even though not well admired by his critics, the foot ball match climax, under water sequences and fast pacy narration will definitely help the film in capturing one of the top spot on the list.

3. "Keerthi Chakra" - Due to non availability of theatres, This Mohanlal starrer may have moved to smaller theatres, in some centers but the audience are still queuing up at the ticket counters .The film has a roller coaster ride over Onam season as it will complete a fifty in a few days. The film may even break collection records in some centers as repeat viewers are flocking in to make the film one of the greatest successes of Malluwood.

4. "Don" - Actor Dileep's long-time wish to work with director Shaji Kailas has come true with this film. But the film's reactions do not assure the cash registers of the producer tinkling. The first week survived with ninety percent collections. But in a long run, the film will miss out of the competition.

5. "Barghavacharitham Moonaam Ghantam" - Actor Mammootty's pairing with writer-actor Sreenivasan was the most sought after movie for Onam before its release. Branded as a complete black comedy, this flick may not have got the desired results, but initial pull of the superstar has credited the movie to remain in the charts.

The other films in the release centers include Pathaaka, Aanachantham and Moonamathoraal which are making satisfactory results from the box office.
