Dileep's Kunhikoonan turned out to be a phenomenal hit. Featuring Dileep in a dual role (a romantic youth and hunchbacked villager), the hilarious entertainer directed by Sasishankar went on to become a blockbuster. It was even remade in Tamil featuring Suriya in the lead role.

Now buzz is that the movie would have its sequel being churned early next year. the producers of Kunhikoonan are giving serious thoughts about making a sequel to the film.

Dileep will again play the lead role and director Sasishankar is not going to direct the sequel. Search for a director and a heroine is on.
