The month of September, 2008, will be a special one, which will have a rare coincidence of coming together of fasting days of Ramzan with the best known festival season of the state, Onam.

Due to this month long Noambu period which starts by the second of September, the ten day festival of Onam which is the biggest filmy season of Mollywood will decline to be like that this year. Instead all the bigger movies are planning to get into theaters by the 2nd of October that is the Ramzan day which is followed by pooja holidays from October 7 to 12.

As per the present plans the biggies planned for the Onam period will shift their release to the first week of October. Mammootty’s ‘Mayabazar’ will get released on the 1st of October while Mohanlal's ‘Kurukshetra’ and Prithviraj's ‘Thirakkatha’ will get into theatres by the second of October.

That leaves for the first time of Mollywood cinema, an Onam which is entirely devoted for smaller movies. Many release pending films like Mohanlal's off-beat art film ‘Aakasha Gopuram’, Jayaram's long delayed ‘Parthen Kanda Paralokam’ and Prithvi's ‘Thalappavu’ will thus get enough playing time to be on theatres, this Onam.

Many other small time movies also will make hay while this festival sun shines without bigger movies.
