As long as he was at the top, Karthik was a delight to watch.

But once the slide began, he began to look like a caricature of how own self.

He was also accused of being in trapped in some habits, which resulted in him disappearing from the scene.

After almost a gap of two years, the actor is now back.

He will be playing the lead role in a movie titled Ini Idaiveli Illai to be produced by G S Murali.

Karthik hopes that the film's title will ring true in his real life, too.

Karthik says 'the past is dead and gone. I am looking positive at my future in Tamil filmdom. Hence forth, I would do good movies and prove my worth to the audience and re-establish my place in the industry".

Denying any move to enter politics, Karthik says "I have started an social service organization called Saranalayam through which I strive to serve the downtrodden and needy. A mega function was also held in Rajapalayam in this regard".

On his son Gowtham venturing to big screen, Karthik says "I want him to complete his studies. After obtaining a degree perhaps he can try his luck here".

The time spent away from the arc lights have mellowed him and he is now wiser for all the experience.

"My years in exile has taught me a lesson and helped me identify my well wishers", he says in a philosophical note.
