Ever since Muthu made an impact with the Japanese, Rajnikanth has been a popular figure there.

The news from the Nippon land is that Rajni starrer Chandramukhi has been welcomed in a big way when it got released there a few days ago.

The movie was screened at Ropongi Hills in Tokyo to a packed house.

Having a capacity of 250, there were only eight Indian viewers. The rest of the crowd comprised Japanese.

Dressed in Rajni T-shirts and showing Baba mudra, the crowd was thrilled by the fight and song sequences in the movie. On seeing the overwhelming response, the distributor of Chandramukhi in Japan has promised the fans to release Shivaji, the next Rajni-starrer on the same date of release in Chennai. Meanwhile, adding one more feather in Rajni's crown, he is all set to be part of a French film. French filmmaker Alain Chabat for his French film Rent a Wife has used a martial arts sequence from Rajnikant's Tamil film Muthu (1995) for his movie.
