Film makers couldn't have thought this month to be such a dry one, as almost every theatre in the state are registering a very dull collections amounting to below twenty percent. Adding to their woes was the untimely rains that hit the state, this week which further prevented the families to go out for movies. So if you love to watch movies alone in bigger theatres, with all rows of seats left vacant around you, this is the time for it

As a number of Tamil releases like Karuppuswamy Kuthagaitharar, Maruthamalai, chennai-28 and Hindi films like Dhammal and Darling, released simultaneously across the state, very few Malayalam releases remain even in the major stations.

1. Hello - Mohanlal's biggest hit of the year continues to be the numero uno of the charts even after twelve weeks of release. The film continues in around ten theatres across the state.

2 Arabikkatha - In a surprise rebound, Arabikkatha which was released on July 4, still attracts masses than the Onam releases. In many centres the film replaced many onam releases after a gap of three weeks.

3 Alibhai- The film manages less than forty percent in major centers, even though more than half of the release centers have shifted it.

4 Ore Kadal - Director Shyamaprasad's film about an affair between a megalomaniac social scientist and a simple housewife, just manages to invite elite audiences in major centres.

5 Nivedhyam-This film by Lohithaadaas still remains in theatres , more due to marketing abilities of lal release. All chances are that this will become a losing proportion for biggest banner of malayalam cinema.

Meanwhile SRK’s ChakDe India is going steady in bigger cities completing 50 days. Kalabhavan Mani's Indrajith left the theatres after a dull run of two weeks. His dubbed film Bhasmaasuran replaced Indrajith in many theatres.
