Akkineni Nageshwara Rao is an atheist by conviction, but he idolises the makers of Gods. It is not surprising that Valmiki, the author of Ramayana, is a mythological figure whom the legendary actor, now in his late 80s, adores a lot.

The actor must be feeling lucky that he essays the role of Valmiki in his forthcoming film, Sri Rama Rajyam. The actor has, in the past, played Kabirdas in Sree Ramadasu. Kabir the poet, again, is a hero for ANR.

The accomplished actor's Valmiki act is sure to be an asset for the Bapu directorial. The much-awaited film, where Balakrishna plays Lord Rama, has Nayanatara playing Goddess Sita.

A principled man in real life, ANR is known for his rationalist disposition. He is not an idol worshipper, but has many great men for heroes.
