Soundarya wanted to immortalise Rajinikanth

Soundarya Rajinikant Ashwin who has won the NDTV Indian of the year award for Technical Innovation in films, for her maiden directorial venture ‘Kochadiiyaan’ which is gearing up for a worldwide release on May 9, has opened upabout what made her opt for the motion capture photo-realistic 3D animated movie

After receiving the award, the young filmmaker said, "3D animated technology is new to India but it is not new to Hollywood. I wanted to immortalize my father through this film."

Soundarya reiterated that the project costing 125 crore rupees is not a cartoon film, but a photo realistic performance where the actors including her father Superstar Rajinikanth have really acted.

Soundarya also revealed that in the film, they have animated the legendary actor Nagesh who passed away in 2009. "We found someone who looks like him, acts like him," Soundarya said and pointed out that such a thing would not have been possible in live action movies.

'Kochadiiyaan' has Bollywood heroine Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Jackie Shroff, Nasser, Rukmini Vijayakumar and many others in its cast. Superstar Rajinikanth has reportedly played triple roles in the film.
