Finally the battle lines for Diwali has been drawn. Ajit- Vijaykant-Dhanush- Simbhu-Shaam-Sarath Kumar are in the battlefield. Vijay-Prasanth-Vikram-Surya is conspicuous by their absence. The common factor that links all the competitors is that all of them badly need a hit.Vijaykant’s Gajendra was a dud, Dhanush has to cover up the flop of Sullan, Simbhu has to live up to the hype of Manmathan, Shaam termed a washout has to be in reckoning and Sarath after Aei stuck in the cans has to prove with Chatrapathi that he is around.

The ratings of the upcoming films is based on prices quoted and the collections that they expect during the festival season.

The top slot is given to Attahasam. Reason being that the film has Ajit in a dual role and Sharan-Ajit combination being a winner puts the film at an advantage. Pooja of JJ fame is the heroine. A whole list of baddies and fights with sensuous songs makes it a clean entertainer. Ajit for the first time attempts comedy.

Trade puts Neranja manasu on par with Attahasam. Captain Vijaykanth's film Neraja Manasu is sold for a decent price. The subject is bound to hit his target audience the family crowds in rural areas. Chinna Gounder type straight film. . No terrorists punch dialogues or blood thirsty Don’s. A family story says trade. Susan added to the film. Karthik Raja’s village type songs. Samudrakani after Unnai Saranadijeyan is rated to be good in giving realistic fare. After Gajendra’s flop the Captain has geared up his fans to make this a hit.

Next in line is Manmathan of Simbhu. Directed by Murugan and proxy directed by Simbhu the film has lots of beauties led by Jothika. Item numbers and long legged beauties like Yana Gupta-Mandira Bedi etc. Yuvan’s music to add pep. Goundamani- Senthil comedy once again. "Don't cheat a person by acting that you are in love" is the message Will the audiences cheat Simbhu? We will have to wait and see.

After Ajit, Vijaykanth and Simbhu the trade is willing to bet on Sarath’s Chatrapathi. The film has ample dose of action. A typical masala film with five fights- five songs. Sold at reasonable prices since Super Good Chowdury is the proxy producer while his production manager Baburaja is officially the producer. The previous track record of Baburaja with Sarath was good. Nikitha to ooze oomph. Vadivelu’s comedy. Rajkumar’s music. Might give back the investment feels trade.

Fourth rating for Girivalam. The plus point of the film is director Shivaraj. Shivaraj gave a surprise hit with Sathyaraj in Adithadi. Trade feels that the director has used the artistes well and given enough masala to the viewers in terms of action and romance. Heroine is Roshini. Richard is Giri and what happens around him is Girivalam. Richard hides a secret of Roshini while Shaam discovers the secret and both are at loggerheads. Shivaraj has to do the trick.

Dreams is fifth in the buyers list. Reason being Dhanush. Two flops and a very high price for the film has pulled the selling price down. Kasthoori Raja attempts a city subject after Thulluvatho Illaimai. Dhanush is a college student. His romance life in and out of campus forms the story. Some hot scenes with Kurumbu Diya and new find Paru. Music is by Bhardwaj.
