For Deepavali this year Kollwood would see only two biggies clashing at the theatres: 'Ilayathalapathi' Vijay and Samantha starrer 'Kaththi' and Vishal-Shruthi Haasan starrer 'Poojai'. Both the films have created a new record in terms of number of theatres they will be screened outside Tamilnadu.

While ARMurugadoss directed 'Kaththi' will be releasing in a record number of 200 screens in Kerala, thanks to Vijay's overwhelming popularity in the Malayalam speaking state, the Telugu dubbed version of 'Poojai' has been allocated 400 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions. 'Kaththi' is also getting dubbed in Telugu and will be releasing in the these two states, but the number of screens are yet to be known.

Every Vishal film has been dubbed and released in Telugu simultaneously and almost all of them have become hits. 'Poojai' getting a huge number of screens in the Telugu speaking regions has three factors contributing to it. People say that Shruthi Haasan's popularity among Telugu audiences and also the reach of her glamour appeal is one of the main reasons for the overwhelming competition for a dubbed film among Telugu distributors. Vishal's popularity and high expectation of action quotient in director Hari's films seem to be other factors that made ??the film sell like a hot cake in the State that has been recently bifurcated. The trailer of 'Poojai' that released recently vouches for the action quotient and Shruthi Haasan's glamour.

With both 'Kaththi' and 'Poojai' creating records in Kerala and Telugu speaking states respectively, this Deepavali is going to be a big celebration of Tamil films.
